Grants for participating in research projects and presenting research papers

To enhance students’ learning, the University provides grants for assisting them to participate in research projects and present their research papers.

1.Grants for undergraduate students participating in research projects:

The student must apply within three months, after receiving an invitation to join a research project, and submit the following documents:

  1. Application form
  2. A copy of the invitation letter
  3. A summary of the research project
  4. A signed receipt to the Center for Teacher Development and Instructional Resources(CFDIR).

Applicants are required to read the University’s notification on collecting personal data before submitting their applications.

2. The grant for presenting a research paper

  • Who is eligible?
    • Applicants must be Tzu Chi University students.
    • Applicants cannot apply for this grant, if they have received a similar grant from elsewhere.
    • Applicant must be a first author of a research paper.
    • Applicants can apply for this grant only once per semester.
  • How to apply?
  • Applicants need to present the following documents to the Division of Administrative Affairs:
    • A copy of the student ID card
    • A copy of the invitation or acceptance letter
    • Conference program

Applicants are required to read the University’s notification on collecting personal data before submitting their applications.

  • Application deadline:
    • In case the conference is held in Taiwan, the deadline is one month before the date of presentation.
    • If the conference is held overseas, the deadline is the first working day of the month, prior to the month of the conference.
    • Applications submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.
  • What are the details of this grant?
    • If the conference is held in Taiwan:
      1. The grant is given to undergraduate students only.
      2. Only the first author is eligible.
      3. Transportation expenses are provided, however, expenses associated with air, bus, Metro Rapid Transport (MRT) or taxi are not covered.
    • If the conference is held overseas:
      1. Only the first author is eligible.
      2. Only overseas transportation expenses are provided. Transportation expenses in Taiwan are not covered.
      3. If applicants have received a grant from the Ministry of Science and Technology for presenting a research paper, the University will provide 50% of the daily allowance, which is commonly used by the Ministry of Education.
      4. If applicants have sent applications, but have not received any grants from the Ministry of Science and Technology, they should submit them to the CFDIR for review.

◎In case the CFDIR’s review score is higher than 90, a maximum transportation grant of NT$20,000 is provided for a conference held in Asia, and NT$40,000 for elsewhere. Moreover, 50% of the conference registration fee, or 50% of the daily allowance commonly used by the Ministry of Education, is provided. Applicants can choose either the fee or the allowance and the maximum amount is NT$10,000.

◎If the review score is 80-89, the transportation grant will be provided with a maximum amount of NT$20,000 for a conference held in Asia and NT$40,000 for elsewhere.

◎For the review score 60-79, the transportation grant is provided with a maximum amount of NT$10,000.

  • What kinds of documents are required to be submitted, after presenting a research paper?
    • Receipts
    • Conference program, including cover, detailed program, and a copy of the presentation abstract.
    • Proof of attendance at conference

Please submit them to the Center.

  • What is the submission deadline?
    • Within two weeks after presenting a research paper or November 30, whichever comes earlier.
